Rehoming Policy

Please note: Animal Allsorts typically only rehomes pets around West Midlands area for logistics reasons of homechecking and dropping off/collecting the animals. Most rehomings are within approximately 20 miles of the rescue, at the discretion of Theresa who runs it.

If you see a pet you think you want to adopt contact Theresa at the rescue on 0121 628 9825, she will ask you a few questions to check suitability, i.e secure fence, garden, etc then you can arrange to come and visit the animal. Animal Allsorts does not rehome to all-day workers and will not allow the pet to be routinely left without human interaction for over 4 hours. A homecheck is performed before the animal will be rehomed with you. Then after about 7 days you decide if you want to sign the adoption papers and become the permanent carer of the dog. The rescue likes to keep in contact after the adoption process and will offer any support it can. Animal Allsorts requests a typical charitable donation of £100 for each dog adopted, cats are from £37, this donation goes part of the way to recovering the veterinary costs and food bills for all the animals we care for. The charity cares for many more dogs than are featured on this website.

All Animal Allsorts dogs & cats will be neutered & ID microchipped to the rescue, fully vacinated and flea & worm treated.

These things alone add upto the amount of the suggested donation without taking into account any other costs incurred by the charity. Animal Allsorts has no paid staff and is run by unpaid volunteers and uses residential addresses to care for the animals. The charity has an income of approximately £6000 per year which mostly goes on vet bills.

Neutering of animals is beneficial to the health of the animals, it improves their temperament, their sociability with other pets, and most importantly it helps to prevent the number of euthansia's of healthy pets in overrun council pounds. There are about 20 unwanted dogs put to sleep every day in the UK of which the vast majority could have been rehomed while people unscrupulously breed animals for profit, please adopt an animal from a shelter rather than buying a puppy.

The donation is made when the adoption papers are signed. Ideally, 3 forms of ID are required, a passport or driving license, and 2 household bills dated in the last 3 months and a homecheck is also performed before you take the pet. The adoption papers are thorough and will explain the level of the commitment of care that Animal Allsorts expects for the welfare of the pet. Theresa will keep contact with adoptive owners. If any of the pets are found to not being taken care and being mistreated the rescue will take appropriate action.

Secure fencing will be required appropriate to the size of the animal. You will not allowed to keep one of our animals outside in the garden, these are family pets.

The adoption papers you sign will state that you cannot transfer ownership of the animal without permission from Animal Allsorts. You cannot remove Animal Allsorts as a contact on the microchip database. If you cannot keep the pet for any reason it must be returned to Animal Allsorts unless otherwise agreed.
